Making the Sauce
- Melt the butter over medium-high heat in a large saute pan or heavy pot with a tight-fitting lid.
- Stir in the olive oil, chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon slices, lemon juice, Cajun seasoning, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, and hot pepper sauce.
- Bring the flavorful butter mixture to a rolling boil.
Cooking the Seafood
- Add the fresh shrimp and mussels to the boiling sauce.
- Reduce the heat to medium and immediately cover the pot with the lid.
- Cook until the shrimp are completely opaque and the mussels have opened wide, about 4 to 6 minutes.
- Discard any mussels that remain closed after cooking.
- Ladle the seafood and rich broth into wide bowls and serve immediately with plenty of crisp garlic toasts for dipping.
