Spicy Bloody Marie

Ingredients
  

Base Juices & Spirits
  • 8 ounces high-quality tomato juice
  • 2 ounces premium vodka
  • 1 ounce fresh lemon juice
Sauces & Seasonings
  • 1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 3-4 dashes hot sauce Tabasco or Crystal
  • 2 dashes celery bitters optional
Spices & Ice
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • pinch celery salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
  • pinch cayenne pepper adjust to taste
  • Ice
Garnishes
  • 2 stalks celery
  • 2 wedges lemon
  • Pickled okra
  • Pickled green bean
  • Stuffed green olives
  • Cherry tomato
  • 2 strips crisp bacon optional
  • Fresh parsley or dill sprig

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Mixing tin
  • Highball glasses
  • Long bar spoon
  • Strainer

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice.
  2. Add tomato juice, vodka, lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire, Dijon, hot sauce, bitters, smoked paprika, celery salt, black pepper, and cayenne.
  3. Roll the cocktail by gently pouring it back and forth between the shaker and a second mixing tin or measuring cup several times to chill and blend without over-diluting.
  4. Fill two tall glasses with fresh ice and strain the Bloody Maries over the ice.
  5. Finish each glass with garnishes and serve immediately.
