Ingredients

The Liquid Architecture
  • 2 ounces premium vodka
  • ½ ounce fresh blood orange juice from ½ blood orange
  • 4 ounces high-quality spicy ginger beer highly chilled
The Thermal Base & Garnish
  • Cracked ice or large artisan ice cubes
  • 1 sprig fresh mint for garnish
  • 1 blood orange wheel for garnish

Method

The Thermal Build
  1. Fill a high-quality, solid copper mug entirely to the brim with cracked ice. The copper will immediately begin to frost, establishing the critical sub-zero thermal environment required to keep the cocktail structurally sound and deeply refreshing.
  2. Pour the 2 ounces of premium vodka and ½ ounce of freshly squeezed blood orange juice directly over the ice.
The Carbonated Emulsion
  1. Top the liquor and citrus juice with the 4 ounces of highly chilled ginger beer. Pouring the carbonated mixer last naturally agitates the liquids, integrating them without the need for aggressive shaking, which would instantly destroy the effervescence.
  2. Using a long stainless steel bar spoon, gently stir the cocktail exactly once from the bottom up to unify the deep ruby citrus with the spicy ginger.
The Aromatic Finish
  1. Take the fresh mint sprig and slap it sharply against the palm of your hand. This mechanical action ruptures the cellular walls of the leaves, releasing their highly fragrant essential oils.
  2. Garnish the rim of the frosted copper mug with the bruised mint and a fresh blood orange wheel. Serve immediately while the vessel remains ice-cold.
