Chutney Mayo Sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°.
- Spread the beans onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes to make sure they are good and dried. Transfer to a large bowl. Use a potato masher to mush the beans, leaving some chunks for texture.
- Increase the oven temperature to 375°.
- Pour the olive oil into a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, pepper, and garlic. Cook until the veggies are soft, about 5 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and cool slightly.
- When the veggies are not too hot, press a paper towel over the top to remove excess moisture. Transfer the veggies to the bowl of a food processor. Add the chili sauce, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, garlic powder, paprika, breadcrumbs, and eggs. Pulse to mix everything together. Add these to the mashed beans. Use your hand to mix everything together. Form into 6 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
- Place the patties onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven, flip the patties, and cook for another 10 minutes. These are good to go, but for added enjoyment, you can cool them slightly, brush with olive oil, and then grill in a grill pan to get those cool grill marks.
- To make the sauce, combine the mayo, chutney, jalapeño, and cumin in a bowl. Whisk together until smooth and season with salt and pepper. Place the patty onto the bottom half of the burger bun. Slather on the sauce and crown with the bun top.

Neighborly Grace
- THE PRESENTATION: Serve these dark, hearty burgers on warm, golden toasted brioche buns. Smear the sweet and spicy mango chutney mayo generously on both the top and bottom buns so the flavor permeates every bite. For a beautiful pop of color and freshness, serve alongside a bright, citrusy corn and avocado salad.
- THE POUR: A hoppy IPA or a refreshing, herbaceous Sauvignon Blanc. The bitterness of the IPA or the crisp acidity of the wine will beautifully cut through the rich mayonnaise and complement the sweet, spicy notes of the jalapeño and mango chutney.
- THE VIBE: Inclusive, incredibly flavorful, and warmly casual. This is a brilliant choice for a diverse weekend afternoon gathering where you want everyone—vegetarians and meat-eaters alike—to feel completely indulged and satisfied.
